You have given him his heart’s desire and have not withheld his request of his lips. ^Psalm 21:2 (Click to read entire Psalm)

General prayers get general answers. Specific prayers get specific answers. Many Christians have not tasted the beauty and joy of God answering his or her prayers.

There is a temptation to live our lives as if we are in control. No real prayer and no real dependence on God. However, when believers take the call and challenge of prayer they will be baffled by the way God answers!

When Christians pray, God listens and God answers. And when God answers the exact request you laid before him, you and I will not be able to contain the joy that follows.

David is experiencing one of those moments. David says that God has given him his heart’s desire and He has not withheld his request of his lips.

In this context, it seems that David and his army has been delivered from a battle. David cried out to God to save and prove Himself to be victorious. That is exactly what God did. God delivered them and showed the nations that the God of Israel is the God of all nations.

I want to encourage you today, pray specific prayers. Pray with precision and see God move. Do not fall into the temptation of praying general prayers as if God is not concerned and involved in your everyday life. When you do this, He will answer.
