God Hears You (Through the Psalms)

O Lord, all my longing is before you; my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart throbs; my strength fails me…But for you, O LORD, do I wait” ^Psalm 38:9-10; 15

Sometimes, all you need is for someone to hear you out. You are not looking for a solution or an answer, simply a friend.

David is in excruciating pain. It seems like he is dealing with both emotional and physical pain. He comes to God and begins to share with Him all that he is going through. David is physically in pain but his mental state makes matters worse because he is worried that his enemies are going to take this opportunity to attack him (v. 12). By the end of this Psalm the situation does not get better and God has yet to heal or deliver David from his dilemma  (v. 21-22).

Nevertheless, we can learn a great deal from this Psalm. Sometimes all we need to do is share with God what we are feeling. God may not answer with a solution, but He answers with His friendship. For the one who loves God, the simple fact that God hears them brings an incredible amount of peace.

You and I have a God who is present in our suffering and hears us when we call out to Him.
