The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein. ^Psalm 24:1 (Click to read entire Psalm)

Everything in all of creation belongs to God. All the money, wealth, pleasure, and treasures of this earth belongs to Him. In His grace, He bestows such blessings on us in our times of need and also for our good pleasure.

When David says, "The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof", he is pointing to the fact that everything on earth belongs to God.

What this implies is that all the money you have, all the wealth that belongs to you and all the things that bring you pleasure is a gift and grace from God. Because everything on the earth belongs to God, everything you have is a derivative of His grace and love towards you.

But of all the things that God has given us, there is one thing that supersedes them all. His presence.

God has given us his presence as the greatest treasure of this world. David declares, “Who shall ascend on the hill of the LORD? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart” (Psalm 24:3-4).

You and I can ascend to the hill of the LORD and stand in his holy place because Jesus has cleansed our hands and purified our hearts. By the blood of Jesus that cleanses us from all of our sins, God has given us the greatest treasure of this world, his presence!
