The Effects of the Word of God (Through the Gospels)

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” ^Matthew 4:4.

There is food for the body and food for the soul. The body is fed and strengthened by food, exercise and rest. Apart from certain nutrients it is impossible to keep our bodies healthy. The same goes for our souls.

Apart from the Word of God, it is impossible to be spiritually healthy. The Word of God is the spiritual bread that feeds and strengthens our inner man. In this particular incident, the Word of God gives Jesus the ability to discern truth from deception.

The devil tries to deceive Jesus by throwing lies and temptations His way. However, Jesus is filled with the Word of God which enables Him to discern what is true and what is false. The Word of God gave Jesus understanding and wisdom to be able to separate the voice of God and the voice of the enemy.

The reason why it is so important for us to know God’s Word is because there are so many other voices and opinions out there. There are so many things contrary to what God desires. Our flesh, the devil and the world are all battling for glory. However, the man of God ought to anchor his life on God’s Word. The more we are filled with God’s Word the stronger our souls will be. We will be able to fight off the enemy, our flesh and the temptations of the world.

Read and love His Word!
