Enter into His House (Through the Psalms)

“But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house.
I will bow down toward your holy temple in fear of you ^Psalm 5:7.

Entering into God’s presence is like entering into someone’s house. You cannot enter unless you are invited. And you are only invited when the host desires your presence and fellowship.

God invites us. God delights in us. God desires to be with us!

David understands that the only reason why he has access into the presence of God is because God’s abundant-steadfast-love. David confesses, “But I, through the abundance of your steadfast love, will enter your house” (Psalm 5:7). Wow. David has a revelation of God’s love. David realizes that God in his abundant love welcomes David into His house. It is only because God first initiates and gives His love that we can respond.

But once David enters, David understands that he is in the house of a King; the Almighty God. Thus, David bows in reverence acknowledging that he has no right to be in the presence of the Almighty God, “I will bow down toward your holy temple in fear of you” (Psalm 5:7). So David enters but enters with reverence and worship. What an incredible insight into the heart of a true worshipper.

You are I are also invited. We are welcome into the house of God because of Christ. Jesus has opened the door that was once locked and we have access into the presence of God. Because His abundant love towards us we have access to enter. But let us not come into His presence lightly, but be aware of what an almighty and powerful King He is. Let us also bow down in reverence and worship Him!

  1. Think about how much God loves you. Feel it in your heart as you think about all the provision and blessings in your life. But more than that, think about Christ immeasurable love for you.

  2. Make time and space to actually enter into God’s presence. We do not need to go to a physical temple, we now have access by faith in prayer to enter God’s house.
