Upon the Rock (Through the Gospels)

And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. - Matthew 7:25

We will all go through different trials and hardships in our lives. It is only a matter of time until a storm arrives at the front of our doorsteps. It will be unwanted and unexpected but it will come.

It is not a matter of "if" we will have storms in our lives but "when" we will have them. How we respond and endure the storms depends on what our anchor will be during those times.

Jesus tells us the anchor must be Him. He must be our anchor and rock during the struggles of life, "And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock" (Matthew 7:25). How do we do this? How do we anchor ourselves in the Lord?

By putting our worth, value and identity in Christ. Hardships come in different forms for different people. Whatever we hold close and dear to our hearts has the potential to be a disastrous storm. Whenever someone or something touches what we love most, it can shake us to our core. Whether it's family, relationships or our career, if we built our lives on those things, it has the potential to become a storm. However, if we build our lives on God's Word, Kingdom and glory, all hardship will bring us closer to Him.

It is so important that we do not build our houses on our own ambitions and lives. We must aim to live a life that builds God's Kingdom!

What are you building your house upon?
